El Camino College Athletics Complex
Torrance, California
Built in the 1950s, El Camino College’s original stadium was an iconic landmark in the Southern California football community. As the facilities became outdated, the college desired a new tri-sport stadium that accommodates football, soccer and track, in lieu of only football. However, the design of the new stadium had to be worthy of replacing the original, iconic stadium.
The Athletic Education Fitness Complex features an 8,000-seat stadium, a synthetic turf game field and a ten-lane, all-weather track. With a creative use of space, 26,000 square feet of lockers and showers, a training room and team meeting rooms resides under the home bleachers. A grand stairway makes for a dramatic entry, and a pre- and post-game celebration area overlooks the track and field. A home and visitors viewing area for coaches, announcers and press sit at the top of the home bleachers, complete with a “President’s Lounge” and state-of-the-art filming deck for games and practices.
