Chao Cancer Center
Orange, California
The Chao Comprehensive Cancer Center was a 20-year-old facility located at the University of California, Irvine, Medical Center (UCIMC), with relatively few improvements made during the life of the center.
Based upon patient demand, infusion services had outgrown the available space. Technology had improved drastically since the facility was built. Regulations had also changed, forcing the IV prep area to meet USP 797 requirements. In order to keep up with the rapid advances in treatment services for cancer patients, UCIMC had to renovate the facility to keep up with the needs of physicians and patients. The LPA Healthcare team was responsible for the design of upgrades to the building's infrastructure systems, the full interior renovation and a building addition to house a functioning OSHPD 3 certified clinic.
