UCSD Revelle College, York and Mayer Hall Renovations

LPA was selected by UCSD for the renovations of York Hall and Mayer Hall which are part of the historic Revelle College. Both buildings required seismic corrections to meet the UC Seismic Policy.
The integrated LPA team explored structural design strategies which allowed the team to explore options to minimize visible structural improvements to maintain the iconic architecture and work with the historic significance of these facilities. York Hall is a 122,000-gross-square-foot building with its iconic column arcade which frames the east side of Revelle Plaza.
The building includes research labs, teaching labs, faculty offices, classrooms, lecture halls It also serves undergraduate students in chemistry and physical sciences and includes two of the main lecture halls serving Revelle College.
Mayer Hall is a 156,000-gross-square-foot building and is connected to the iconic DNA breezeway to the north. The building primarily serves the department of physics which includes research labs, faculty offices, classrooms and meeting spaces.
