Grossmont College Performing Arts Center
Grossmont, California
The new 38,680-sq.-ft. Performing Arts Center (PAC) contains a 390-seat concert hall and will provide specialized spaces including state-of-the-art music, choral and instrumental rehearsal rooms, piano rooms, art gallery, green room, scene shop, practice rooms, classrooms and faculty offices.
The PAC headlines a critical renovation of the arts and communication complex at Grossmont College. It serves a dual purpose—to provide space for instruction and to bring the community to the college to enjoy the arts. Blending these two purposes in a campus environment became the hallmark of this project. The PAC not only faced the challenge of incorporating instructional and community spaces, but it also had to physically connect to distinct older buildings and create a dialogue with other adjacent more contemporary structures.
The PAC also creates a welcoming entry to the entire arts and communications complex at the college and serves as a beacon of the arts to the community.
