LPA designed the impressive 120,000-square-foot Bronco Recreation and Intramural Complex (BRIC) at Cal Poly Pomona. The higher education facility will provide ultramodern technology in the areas of health and fitness.
Features include three basketball courts, one multi-activity court (MAC), two racquetball courts, five fitness studios for aerobics, martial arts, spinning and dance, a 50-foot rock climbing wall--thought to be the tallest of any California university--a cardio and weight lifting area, a recreation and lap pool, and a juice bar. The project is registered and on track to receive LEED Gold certification.
“The project is LPA’s fourth student recreation center within the California State University (CSU) system, which includes Sonoma State University, Cal State East Bay, and Cal State Northridge,” says LPA Interior Designer Winston Bao. “Cal Poly Pomona now joins the roster of 14 CSU campuses that have a recreation center in operation or under construction.”
