This new 90,000 square feet four-story Behavioral and Social Science Building breaks the 20th century norm where narrow corridors led to face front lecture style classrooms with little or no windows. Once upon a time faculty and students would hustle across campus, go directly into a classroom and then leave.
There was little to no engagement space inside an academic building. In the 21st Century students are very interested in learning as opposed to just getting a degree. Our Zeitgeist design concept bases the design of this new Behavioral and Social Science Building around a large multi-story interactive space that provides a place for students to see and be seen by other students as well as actively and passively participating with fellow students.
