Schaefer Branch Library

Schaefer Branch Library, a 12,000-square-foot facility, is the result of a very ambitious community group who championed the project. Located on land donated by a local landowner, the library serves as a landmark for the community and a gateway into San Antonio for those traveling into town along Highway 87. This new library is a full-service library and includes spaces such as adult reading areas, teen area, children's activity area, children's reading areas, meeting spaces and staff spaces.
The site is master planned to have amenities that invite patrons to stay and enjoy the peaceful environment, such as children’s play areas, outdoor reading porches, outdoor amphitheater and serves as a trailhead for a proposed trail through the neighborhood, planned to the west of the library’s site.
