LPA’s San Antonio office was recognized with an Excellence in Construction Award for historical restoration by the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC)’s South Texas chapter for bringing new life to a long-vacant retail building.
Located in San Antonio’s up-and-coming Southtown District, the LEED Platinum-certified office includes indoor and outdoor areas infused with energy-efficient elements. Landscaped courtyards include bio-retention features to filter stormwater and reduce pollutants before water is discharged into the San Antonio River; photovoltaic solar panels produce 50 percent of the energy needed to run the office; and natural daylight from existing high-volume windows and automatic daylight harvesting sensors manage the consumption of energy from lighting.
ABC’s Excellence in Construction Awards celebrates innovative and high-quality construction projects, safety programs and diversity programs in Texas. Metropolitan Contracting worked with LPA to achieve the firm’s vision of a collaborative, sustainable work environment.
