LPA’s integrated design team turned traditional office building into mixed office and lab facility for Fulgent, a full-service genomic testing company.
Fulgent executives and community leaders recently gathered in Coppell, Texas for the grand opening of a new office and CLIA- and CAP-accredited lab facility for the genomic testing company.
Speakers included Fulgent president and COO James Xie and Coppell Mayor Wes Mays, who welcomed Fulgent’s 300 employees to the community.
Making this conversion work on a tight schedule and budget required a collaborative approach with the lab operations, facilities and project management team involved from the earliest stages of the design process.” — Isabel Mandujano, LPA Director of Laboratory Planning
The 51,000-square-foot, 3-story facility consolidates operations for Fulgent’s Dallas-Fort Worth area operations. The design converted a traditional office building into a comprehensive facility for the company, including an anatomic pathology lab, a next generation sequencing lab, clinical pathology doctor offices, support space for shipping and receiving and hazardous materials, and office, meeting and conference space.
LPA provided architecture, interiors, laboratory planning and structural design services for the project. Birch Construction and Cushman & Wakefield were also involved at every step of the process.
“Making this conversion work on a tight schedule and budget required a collaborative approach with the lab operations, facilities and project management team involved from the earliest stages of the design process," said LPA Director of Laboratory Planning Isabel Mandujano. “It’s a pleasure to see this facility come to fruition and serve the needs of Fulgent’s hardworking clinical laboratory professionals, helping them fulfill their mission to drive healthcare innovation forward in the DFW life science ecosystem.”
