Rich Bienvenu has more than 25 years of experience in numerous landscape design projects throughout the United States and abroad. Since joining LPA in 1998, his primary responsibility has been landscape design leadership for higher education projects throughout the nation and has used design as a medium to connect people with nature and the environment.
Rich’s involvement covers a diverse range of project tasks including conceptual design, schematic design and design development, construction documentation and construction administration. He collaborates with LPA’s multidisciplinary teams of architecture and civil engineering early in the process to blur the line between the interior and exterior.
Rich is passionate about working collaboratively with the LPA design team and client representatives, including facilities and maintenance and operations staff, to design and specify outdoor educational spaces that are attractive, functional and easy to maintain. To encourage an environmentally-friendly landscape, Rich and his team use site-specific sustainable strategies, to reduce potable water demands by specifying native and drought-tolerant plant communities.
