Dave Gilmore has helped turn ideas into designs throughout Southern California for more than 30 years, specializing in urban planning, retail and mixed-use projects.
As Studio Director of LPA’s San Diego office, Dave’s work ethos is supported by three guiding principles: collaboration, communication and talent development within the LPA family. He promotes the power of collaboration through client relations, project team direction, budget and scheduling, and development of a project from start to finish.
With Dave, clients receive an engaged partner; a LPA Principal who has grown with the company and community to develop sustainable, diversified neighborhoods within celebrated urban neighborhoods. Responsible for client contact and assembling and directing project teams, while leading efforts from conceptual design through completion, Dave ensures the full focus of the design team on the attention required to meet the budget and schedule. He is an active project leader and believes every design has a unique story and should reflect the vision of the client.
Architecture runs through Dave’s DNA: His grandfather was an architect in Phoenix who worked on the historic Arizona Biltmore Hotel, the Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired “Jewel of the Desert.” Intrigued with architecture from a young age, Dave pursued his creative passions at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, where he received his Bachelor of Architecture. Dave is engaged with multiple organizations throughout San Diego County. In 2011, the College of Architecture and Environmental Design at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo named Dave its Honored Alumnus of the year for continued contributions to the Mustang community.
