Steve FlanaganFAIA, LEED AP BD+C

As a licensed California architect since 1992 I’ve dedicated my career to the design and construction of higher education projects. As LPA’s Director of Higher Education, I have the privilege to collaborate with educators and to lead talented teams of architects, designers, and engineers in explorations of discovery that has led to 83 AIA design awards and 30 Community College Facilities Coalition (CCFC) design awards since 2003.

My passion lies in the shared governance process where interaction with administrators, faculty, staff, and students are paramount to every project’s success. I’ve developed a skill, perhaps an art, of getting all stakeholders moving in the same direction on a collaborative path. I particularly enjoy renovation projects where LPA’s integrated design team can breathe new life into an old worn-down building that most can’t imagine worth saving. As a former collegiate athlete, I’m also very passionate about sport and recreation projects.

For the last 18 years I’ve enjoyed donating my time as a volunteer coach and board member as part of my community’s non-profit youth soccer programs that services over 4,000 kids annually.
