Despite the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19), work continues on projects. This week the California Division of the State Architect (DSA) formally approved plans for Agnews High School, the third phase of a K-12 campus for Santa Clara Unified School District.
The DSA announced earlier this month that it will hold all client meetings, including back checks, over the web. But it is continuing to process plans.

The high school is the final stage of the Agnews campus, which will seamlessly integrate the elementary, middle and high schools. The design focuses on 21st Century learning environments and creating connections between indoor and outdoor spaces. The elementary and middle schools are under construction.
LPA designers were able to communicate with DSA throughout the final stages of the approval process, sharing drawings and answering questions through digital connections. LPA has several projects in the DSA back check process, Gumbayan says.
“We are able to expedite document changes and quickly turn them around because they know we’re still working,” Gumbayan says.
All LPA California employees are working from home, following the Governor’s order. However, LPA is committed to working with clients to keep projects moving during the slowdown, LPA CEO Wendy Rogers writes in a recent note to the LPA community.
