Elementary School Includes Daycare Center to Support Teachers and Staff

A new elementary school for Hutto ISD reflects the community’s unique culture and goals, including an on-campus daycare center available for the children of teachers and staff. Designers expanded on the district’s elementary school model to create a unique campus for 800 pre-K-5 students with inclusive learning environments, activated courtyard spaces and many references to hippos, the community’s beloved mascot.

The district’s priority to recruit and retain teachers is reflected in the daycare center, which is connected to the elementary school but functions as a standalone facility, with its own entry and play area. The center is scaled for small learners, with direct connections to activated outdoor play and learning areas.
