Inside a Net Zero Energy, All-Electric Fire Station

Rancho Cucamonga Fire Station #178 is an all-electric facility that is home to one of the first all-electric fire trucks in North America. With a focus on firefighter health and energy efficiency, the facility presents a new model for resiliency and service. The energy system mixes photovoltaic (PV) panels located on car ports with battery storage and an energy management system to produce enough energy to power the station and charge the electric fire truck without grid support for 24 hours, even on cloudy days.
