Maria Madrigal

Project Manager

San Jose, California

As a project manager and architect, Maria Madrigal has dedicated her career to transformative education projects. She is often the main point of contact for clients from master planning through construction, a role that requires empathy and calm leadership. A Bay Area native, Maria has worked across the full spectrum of education building types, from academic spaces to specialty facilities and multi-campus projects.

Maria’s work reflects a deep understanding of educational institutions and the needs of young learners and communities. For the Milpitas High School Performing Arts Center, she drew on her early drama experience to create a teaching theater that embraces the community and engages the larger student body. With Santa Clara USD, Maria led three campus projects from master planning to construction, tailoring innovative solutions for each site by taking the time to closely understand the needs and character of each school.

Maria elevates every project she leads with her authenticity, organization and unwavering focus on outcomes. Her detail-oriented, highly collaborative approach ensures the best solutions emerge for every challenge. Her ability to connect with stakeholders and ability to lead bilingual community engagement sessions makes her an invaluable presence. Her colleagues describe her as a driving force behind cohesive and motivated teams, cultivating a positive morale that enhances the work at every level.

Maria’s contributions extend beyond project work. She earned LPA’s “Rookie of the Year” award and is a leader in LPA for Change, the Project Leader Academy and other firm initiatives. A mentor to HBCU students through the National Organization of Minority Architects and a scholar in AIA Silicon Valley’s Christopher Kelley Leadership Development Program, she also brings her passion for creativity to baking, crafting and her goal of visiting every MLB park to cheer on the Giants.
