City College of San Francisco STEAM Complex

San Francisco, California

City College of San Francisco’s (CCSF) is planning for the construction of a new Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM) Building on the Ocean Campus to be constructed west of Friday Way on the site of an existing parking lot. The new STEAM Building is planned to be a five or six story structure with approximately 150,000 GSF and a construction budget of $175,000,000.

The design for the new STEAM Complex creates a multi-disciplinary heart of the campus, with spaces designed to support the entire college community. The design incorporates flexible social and study space to encourage interdisciplinary interaction, including a 24-hour accessible maker space; state-of-the-art science labs for biology, chemistry and physics; engineering labs for biotechnology, material science and circuitry; and computer science labs for networking. Located along the campus’s prominent Frido Kahlo Way, the complex will also provide support spaces for an adjacent soon to be constructed performing arts center.
