AIA Honors LPA with 2025 Architecture Firm Award

National award is the highest honor the AIA bestows on an architecture practice. LPA recognized as a ‘trailblazer’ in sustainable, high-performance design.

The American Institute of Architects today recognized LPA Design Studios with the 2025 AIA Architecture Firm Award, the national organization’s top award for an architecture practice.

The firm was honored for creating an integrated design firm of architects, engineers, interior designers, landscape architects and researchers focused on the shared responsibility of addressing climate change and fostering equitable, thriving communities.

“LPA Design Studios has established itself as a trailblazer in sustainable, high-performance architecture, blending a mission-driven ethos with innovative, interdisciplinary design practices,” the AIA noted in the award announcement.

Each year the AIA recognizes only one firm with the AIA Architecture Firm Award, spotlighting firms that best represent the organization’s ideals and goals. Honorees are chosen for their

“cumulative effect on the profession of architecture” and addressing “the future of architecture while honoring its tradition.”

“We are overwhelmed and humbled by this honor,” said Wendy Rogers, LPA’s chief executive officer and chief talent officer. “We share this award with all the clients and communities that entrusted us with their projects and their vision.”

Founded in an Irvine, California garage 60 years ago, LPA has grown into a firm of 500 employees with 10 practices and multiple disciplines working out of studios in California and Texas. The firm has built a culture around collaboration, inclusion and a research-driven design process.

“Congratulations for this award go to everyone in the firm and everyone who built the firm,” said LPA president Keith Hempel. “It is a tribute to a collaborative spirit and what we can accomplish when we work around shared goals.”
