This past weekend the San Antonio Public Library system celebrated the grand opening of Schaefer Library on the East Side.
“We are so excited to bring this long-awaited and innovative library to this community,” Ramiro Salazar, director of the San Antonio Public Library, said in a press release.
Located on Highway 287 near the S. Foster Road intersection, the newest library branch is 11,600 square feet, according to the San Antonio Public Library website. The space provides quiet study rooms, meeting rooms, various technology to be used on location and public art pieces. Built with kids in mind, the new branch features a dedicated children’s space with age-appropriate technology, a hands-on activity area and an outside playground.
