It started with an idea and a design charrette for Catalyst focused on the best ways to revive Sacramento's old waterfront. LPA designers and engineers developed a concept centered on a new pedestrian bridge that would bring people and entertainment to the aging area and connect the waterfront to Sacramento's booming downtown.
The concept caught the idea of Sacramento leaders, who named LPA one of the five firms set to compete for the job of redesigning the waterfront.
The goal is to remake the Sacramento waterfront into a "national destination," Sacramento Vice Mayor Steve Hansen told reporters.
