LPA’s designs of a supportive housing project in Los Angeles and a dense townhome project in San Antonio, Texas, took home three awards at the recent 2021 Pacific Coast Builders Conference (PCBC) Gold Nugget Awards.
The annual awards program recognizes companies that improve communities through exceptional concepts in design, planning and development. It is open to architects, developers, builders and land planners with projects around the world.
PCBC recognized the Normandie supportive housing complex, a 75-unit development, with awards in the on-the-boards multifamily and innovative housing concept categories. Designed around customized, once-used shipping containers, the five-story project aims to transform the delivery model for quickly and efficiently delivering high-quality supportive housing, including on-site counseling and community services.

Judges also honored Grove Place, a four-unit development in San Antonio, with an award of merit in the best multifamily housing community category. Built on a small lot in a suburban single-family neighborhood, the three-bedroom townhomes are filled with natural light and offer outdoor space on four levels.
“These projects illustrate how projects can build community, promote greater connectivity and enhance quality of life for residents,” said LPA Director of Mixed Use Matt Winter. “We are honored that PCBC recognized our work in the multifamily space, an area that is rapidly expanding for the firm.”
Now in its 58th year, the Gold Nugget Awards is the largest competition of its kind in the nation. It honors design and planning achievements in community and home design, green-built housing, site planning, commercial, retail, mixed-use development and specialty housing. This year, winners were selected from more than 600 entries from around the world.
