Steve Pomerenke is a dual-licensed architect and landscape architect with over 25 years of experience designing science and technology facilities and campuses. As Design Director, he leverages his extensive expertise to guide the creation of environments that foster collaboration and innovation while reflecting each client’s unique mission.

Steve is deeply committed to placemaking, focusing on spaces that support the well-being and productivity of researchers and staff.as well as the technical demands of their work. His designs develop ecosystems that extend beyond laboratories, integrating amenities and environments that encourage connection and shared purpose. Known for his ability to uncover and address client needs, Steve ensures that every project tells a meaningful story and supports the people it serves.

At LPA, Steve provides leadership and mentorship within the firm’s Science + Technology practice, helping to strengthen its presence in key markets and grow its portfolio of innovative, client-focused projects. His experience in real estate development, facilities management and lab design brings a unique perspective to his work, helping clients to elevate the experience for researchers involved in stressful, sensitive work..

In addition to his years working for a major developer of modern life sciences campus, Steve has served as a Design Studio instructor at NewSchool of Architecture & Design in San Diego, reflecting his commitment to teaching and mentoring the next generation. His experience as both an architect and landscape architect informs his holistic approach, integrating the built and natural environments to create cohesive, purpose-driven spaces.
