Melina Aluwi is an experienced leader, mentor, and collaborator. She is an educational and civic architectural designer who excels at developing client relationships. As a Managing Director at LPA, her primary focus is on higher education and K-12 school projects. Melina brings a holistic design and management approach that results in success for her clients, projects and colleagues alike.
Melina’s objective for educational projects is to create spaces for students that incorporate the most progressive learning environments. Her overall goal is to design creative and functional spaces that reflect integrity, purpose and thoughtfulness. Melina is invigorated by projects that encourage and require community engagement and strives to consistently create positive change by designing spaces that improve the lives of others.
With a background in business, accounting and architecture, Melina is adept at various stages from operations to design, bringing a comprehensive management and organic directional style to enhance the quality of LPA’s work. Melina is engaged with clients throughout all phases of planning, design, and construction. She’s also involved in design presentations, oversight of construction drawings, and managing project budgets.
Melina is both LEED and NCARB accredited and is the past president of the NewSchool of Architecture & Design’s Alumni Advisory Board and a founding member of the Alumni Mentorship Program. In 2012, she was chosen as their Alumni Mentor of the Year. She holds degrees from the NewSchool of Architecture & Design and the University of Southern California, and is a member of the U.S. Green Building Council, and the American Institute of Architects (AIA).
