Dallas, Texas

As Design Director, John Brooks believes a truly successful design is accomplished when the community is engaged and their vision is realized through a collaborative design process. With 38 years of experience, he has contributed to many of Texas’ most notable and influential projects, such as Legacy Stadium and Apogee Stadium, the first LEED Platinum College Football Stadium.

John is known for his thoughtful, context-driven responses that are informed by history, community, culture and place. He has an insatiable curiosity for architecture, cities and urban environments. As an architect, John actively researches and learns about places, cultures, communities and environments to offer inventive solutions for clients. He is captivated by projects that have the potential to reach beyond their boundaries and transform entire communities, cities or regions.

John’s expertise in feasibility studies, master planning, program development, development consulting, and sustainable design are the result of many years of solving design challenges on a variety of projects and building types: sports facilities, commercial, corporate, retail, K-12, higher education, hospitality, and residential. John stays with the project from inception through the completion of construction documents to ensure a continuity between all for the various design disciplines that contribute to a project’s success.

John started in the industry in 1981, after he received his Bachelor of Environmental Design from Texas A&M University. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects, the Texas Society of Architects and the Urban Land Institute.
