Gary BlantonAIA, LEED AP

Regional Studio Director

Dallas, Texas

With nearly 35 years of experience designing and planning K-12 school campuses, Gary Blanton works directly with educators and school administrators to oversee the new construction and modernization development of comprehensive facilities. As a Principal and Regional Studio Director, he provides guidance, resource management and design direction to the team to find the appropriate design strategies for the best outcome.

Gary’s project motto is “the more complex the better,” and he enjoys working on projects where design is tested and celebrated. Gary assists with all phases of the project, from the initial request for qualifications through to a project’s grand opening, and ensures the team is supported by the necessary resources to achieve each project’s unique objectives.

After Gary’s vocational drafting class teacher pronounced him “not smart enough to be an architect,” Gary decided to compete in a design competition run by Texas A&M University. He won a statewide award for the project, enticing him to ignore his drafting teacher and follow his dreams. Gary graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Environmental Design and began working in Dallas in 1984. He is a member of the AIA and USGBC and has received numerous accolades. Gary has served on the AIA’s Large Firm Round Table, as the President of the no. 3 Ranked Education Design Firm in Texas and as the Chairman/CEO of the no. 2 ranked Educational Design Firm in the nation.
